Under an Hour: EV Charging for Affordable Housing at Alora

Picture a parking lot.

Fresh paint. New steel posts. A row of new EV chargers that, until now, didn’t belong here.

This is Alora, an Affirmed Housing affordable community. Families. Seniors. People building better lives. The kind of place where EV charging wasn’t even on the radar.

Until today.

We installed 17 chargers here. Not for a press release. Not to check a box. But because clean transportation should be for everyone. And because Buzze is the only EV charging company focused on affordable housing.

We worked with Affirmed Housing for months. Planning, permitting, building, and then, one morning, the last bolt was tightened, the system came online, and the chargers went live.

Fifty-six minutes later, a resident saw a charger available just steps from their front door. They booked it. They plugged in. And in that moment, they proved something we’ve believed all along: if you make EV charging accessible, people will use it immediately.

This is not just about chargers. It’s about giving communities the same opportunities that have been reserved for higher-income neighborhoods. And this is just one site. Across Affirmed Housing’s portfolio, hundreds more chargers are coming, funded almost entirely through state and utility incentives that remove the cost barrier.

One property. Seventeen chargers. And a first session that happened in under an hour. That’s how transformation begins.

Because the future doesn’t arrive on its own.
We have to switch it on.

Switch On Your Community

If you own or manage affordable housing, now is the time to act. Incentive programs can cover most, if not all, of the cost—and your residents are ready.
